Meet the Creator
William Christopher
Meet William Christopher (aka Chris), a country boy from southern Georgia who considers himself a "student of the world".
"I primarily work as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Director, training teachers, writing curriculum, and teaching. I’m also a DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) Advocate for my organization.
Outside of my main career, I am a STEAM-based children’s author. I recently released my second book of the series titled “The Adventures of Old Swifton Road”.
I was inspired to write these stories to fill the need for black and brown characters to be highlighted in children’s books so that black and brown kids can have a sense of identity in STEAM educational content and literature.
The work I do now started right after I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Geosciences and Water Sciences. I was one of only a few Black students to graduate from the program to only enter a STEAM field that is less diverse. I believe that the work I do can encourage and inspire young children of color to pursue STEAM degrees and trade programs that will eventually result in a more diverse and inclusive workforce and society."
“The Adventures of Old Swifton Road” is a collection of STEAM-based children’s stories that reveal fun and inspiring tales through the eyes of Black and Brown American children from various socio-economic upbringings.
The series is available on Amazon and Barnes&Noble.com.
