Meet William Christopher

William Christopher—known to most as Chris—is a country boy from southern Georgia and a lifelong student of the world. His work lives at the intersection of education, environmental science, storytelling, and representation—where learning, identity, and lived experience meet.

Chris currently teaches Geosciences and Robotics at the middle school level, designing hands-on, project-based learning experiences that integrate environmental science, engineering, coding, and real-world problem solving. He previously served as a STEAM Director, leading teacher training, curriculum development, and innovation initiatives—experience that continues to inform his classroom practice and educational leadership.

He is also a dedicated DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) advocate, committed to creating classrooms, curriculum, and literature that reflect the identities, cultures, and lived experiences of the students they serve.
Beyond the classroom, Chris is a STEAM-based children’s author, memoirist, and publisher. He is the creator of The Adventures of Old Swifton Road, a children’s book series that centers Black and Brown children in STEAM-rich stories rooted in curiosity, community, and imagination. The series was born from a desire to expand representation in children’s literature—so young readers of color can see themselves as scientists, engineers, builders, and innovators.

Chris is also the author of the memoir Boy, Interrupted: A Southern Memoir of Faith, Identity, and Becoming, a deeply reflective work that explores childhood, trauma, spirituality, queerness, education, and resilience in the American South. Through vulnerability, honesty, and grounded hope, the memoir traces the journey of a boy interrupted by circumstance—and the man restored through self-discovery, faith, and purpose.

Education & Academic Background

Chris’s work is grounded in a strong interdisciplinary academic foundation:
  • Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum Design, Instruction, and Educational Technology (in progress)
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in Organizational Leadership
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Environmental Geosciences and Water Sciences, Georgia State University

As one of only a few Black students to graduate from his undergraduate program, Chris experienced firsthand the lack of diversity in many STEAM spaces—an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to equity, access, and representation. He believes that early exposure to inclusive STEAM education and culturally responsive storytelling can transform trajectories, empowering more students of color to pursue STEAM degrees, trade programs, and creative careers.
Today, Chris continues this work through teaching, authorship, memoir, and publishing—supporting young learners as they explore the world around them and helping writers bring meaningful stories into the world with intention and care.
The Adventures of Old Swifton Road series is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Boy, Interrupted is forthcoming.

Immersive Experiences,

To achieve contact with reality is not to transport oneself elsewhere, it is not transcendence but thorough immersion in one's surroundings. A reality which is neither purely physical nor metaphysical, but both at once.
